Generative AI worries me so much

Hi

I just recently felt like acid just rose up in my mouth when I saw that Assembly, a finnish computer expo just announced that they will be having a vibe-coding contest, sponsored by an ai company. This is an event that has been going on for 30+ years and its foundations are in game jams, hackathons, people coming together to make cool shit happen.

Hey I get it, I've got nothing against AI when its used as an assistive tool. I know that Pagecord too is partially put together with AI. The videos I put on social media always have captions that are first placed by AI because its just that much quicker.

I do have to edit them later because to this day finnish accent is sometimes incomprehensible.

AI companies often spew shit like just imagine and then your ideas are brought to life by the push of a button. What happened to enjoying the process? What happened to the joy of learning?

Some folks say that ai just bridges the skill gap. You know what actually would bridge the skill gap? Accessible education, community resources.

I want to build a third space where creative people can do cool stuff together and where experts of a field can show you how things are made, invite them for an hour to do a small project or a task that you can follow along with.

It would be a space where you can try make things and either fail or succeed and do it again and perhaps actually learn something along the way.

Do you want to see this come to life? email me, or reach out via my socials. Cause I want to build this.
